Open Shop is Back!

Hey! We’ve missed you!

We’re starting to have Open Shop like the old days, again. Capacity is limited, however, and you may be asked to wait outside.

All visits start with check-in and we will manage the flow as best we can, with your help.

So, if you’re looking to do any of the following:

  • donate bikes/parts;
  • emergency/simple do-it-together repairs;
  • pick up parts to repair it yourself, at home; or
  • test ride a bike;

feel free to stop by during our Open Shop hours :

  • Tuesdays: 4PM – 8PM
  • Thursdays: 4PM – 8PM
  • Saturdays:  12PM – 4PM

We are still asking folks with non-emergency, do-it-together repairs to book an appointment. This gives us the best chance to provide you with meaningful service.

Our goal is to provide a satisfactory experience for all.

Hope to see you in the shop!

100+ Students Earned a Bike Last Month

5th Annual Earn-A-Bike Program a Success!

Thanks to the Earn-A-Bike Program, over 100 elementary school students are now proud owners of a newly refurbished bicycle!

Last month, fourth-graders at Gossler Elementary and fifth-graders at Beech Elementary who completed the Earn-A-Bike curriculum were given the chance to pick out a bike, along with a helmet, lights, and lock.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped us put smiles on faces, as well as the Manchester Community Schools Project, Manchester Health Department, Manchester Police Department and Elliot Health System!

Fix-A-Flat Friday

QC Bike volunteers helped community members get back on the streets using the new FixIt station at Bronstein Park. During the event we gave away lights and tubes, fixed flats and got to meet some great people.

NH Gives Day is June 8-9th

Like other bike shops around the world, the pandemic has changed the way we operate. The demand for bikes has increased substantially, from families seeking outlets for pent-up energy to essential workers struggling to make it to their shift on time. Our mission is to get people on bikes, and we need your help. Our original, pre-COVID model was heavily volunteer-dependent and shop-focused. Last year, we pivoted to a greater reliance upon paid staff and are hoping for a blended staffing model, with a wider base of support.  We need YOU to help build our capacity to meet the needs of our community. Even small donations make a big impact, and your donation can go even further thanks to the $300,000 site-wide match pool funded by the New Hampshire Charitable Donation.

YOU can help keep Manchester rolling with a donation on NH Gives Day:

We’re growing to better meet the needs of our community!

The Queen City Bike Collective has received generous funding to focus our efforts on communication and advocacy. Our original, pre-COVID model was heavily volunteer-dependent and shop-focused. Last year, we pivoted to a greater reliance upon paid staff and are hoping for a blended staffing model, with a wider base of support, into the future.

Our efforts to expand operations – beyond the walls of our shop – are beginning to bear fruit, with the FixIt station project, the bike community SWOT analysis, and the absorption of Bike Manchester (see announcement below).

Meet our new staff:

Tammy Zamoyski

Tammy is bringing fresh energy and passion to the team! With a background in urban planning, she has been a strong bicycle advocate and non-profit leader over the past ten years. She is excited to help QC Bike Collective grow in a sustainable manner.

Marlee Townsend

Marlee is an experienced communications specialist & nonprofit professional. Her favorite thing to do is tell stories — through words, images, videos, or experiences — that make the world a better place. She believes in community-based solutions rooted in sustainability and justice.

Bike Manchester Merges with QC Bike

QC Bike Collective and Bike Manchester have accomplished a lot together over the years. We are excited to announce that QC Bike will be carrying on the Bike Manchester torch as we combine resources to get more people biking in Manchester.

QC Bike Collective performed a SWOT (Strengths | Weaknesses | Opportunities | Threats) analysis of the Greater Manchester bike community in Fall 2020. More than 33 individuals representing 13 organizations participated, including members of Bike Manchester, QC Bike Collective, BWANH, and more. The SWOT analysis brought several items to light that informed the decision between Bike Manchester and QC Bike Collective, including the opportunities to improve communication and collaboration between cycling stakeholders, and to strengthen our collective missions.

Bike Manchester has been an outstanding leader in making Manchester more bicycle friendly, and we are honored and excited for the opportunity to continue their mission.

NEW Monthly Newsletters

As part of our improved communications strategy, we will be sending out monthly newsletters that may include news, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. You are currently in our database because you have shown interest in the Queen City Bike Collective by visiting the Shop, purchasing or donating a bike, or volunteered with us. If you would NOT like to receive monthly updates from us, no hard feelings. You can unsubscribe by clicking here.

We look forward to growing with YOU!
